Cine Líbero Luxardo presents, from June 12 to 19, a program filled with hits, featuring premieres of internationally acclaimed films. Among the highlights of the week are: the praised romantic comedy 'Love Cable Car', the Latin American drama 'In Search of Martina', and the award-winning stop-motion animation 'In Search of a Snail', nominated for the Oscar and the Golden Globe.

Directed by Oscar winner Adam Elliot, the film 'In Search of a Snail' has a 95% approval rating on the specialized review site Rotten Tomatoes. The production has already been nominated for over 70 awards worldwide, including the Oscar and the Golden Globe for 'Best Animation'. The film stars a heavyweight cast, including Sarah Snook (Succession), Kodi Smit-Mhee, Jacki Weaver, Eric Bana, among others.

The plot follows Grace Pudel, a lonely girl ionate about books and ornamental snails. Separated from her twin brother in childhood, Grace lives marked by anxiety and sadness. Her life changes when she meets Pinky, an eccentric and vibrant lady, with whom she develops a transformative friendship.

The film 'In Search of Martina' is a co-production between Brazil and Uruguay, filmed in Argentina, and was awarded 'Best Film' at the International Film Festival of Uruguay and the Mar del Plata Film Festival (Argentina).

Directed by Marcia Faria, the story is inspired by the history of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo Association, an Argentine organization that seeks to locate children who disappeared during the military dictatorship. It also reflects the personal drama experienced by the director, whose mother, like the film's protagonist, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

The narrative follows Martina, an Argentine widow who has been searching for her grandson born in captivity during the military regime for over 30 years. The Alzheimer's diagnosis makes her search even more urgent. When she discovers that her grandson may be in Brazil, Martina embarks on an emotional journey where past and present intertwine, in a touching struggle against forgetfulness.

In 'Love Cable Car' by German filmmaker Veit Helmer, known for works like 'Absurdistan' and 'The Bra'. The feature film is 84 minutes long and presents a love story completely devoid of dialogue, narrating a tale of affection and silence.

The plot follows Iva, who starts working as an operator of a cable car that connects a mountain village to a valley city. Every 30 minutes, her path crosses in the air with that of Nino, who operates the opposite gondola. A subtle romance unfolds between the two, culminating in a meeting outside of work.

The film was shot over 36 days during the European summer in Georgia and was part of the Incredible Films Festival, promoted by the Belas Artes Group in São Paulo. Highly praised by European critics, the film is currently showing at Cine Líbero Luxardo.

Double Feature

After great public success, the documentary 'Ritas' remains in theaters for another week. The work offers an intimate and unprecedented portrait of Rita Lee, one of the greatest artists in Brazilian music.

Narrated by the singer herself, the film dives into her personal and professional journey, revealing not only the iconic artist on stage but also the woman ahead of her time. With rare footage, testimonials, and interviews, the documentary pays a sensitive and powerful tribute to the pioneer of national rock and a symbol of female representation in music.
